Pumpking Carving-Spaulding Style!

We carved pumpkins last night!

Some use kitchen knives....the Spaulding boys use Dremel Tools! Wow.

Concentration is key!

Look at my creative-self! :) It's a witch stirring up her brew!

Bruce, John, and Tiffany

John carved out a Haunted House-it turned out really cool!

And, Bruce dremel-ed out the Grim Reaper!

John widdled out a bat for Garrett on his pumpkin!

Oh, not everybody had tons of fun, though! ;)

This is my favorite part about Halloween!

Garrett and Brylie

During harvest, I watched my niece Brylie while Richard helped John with the potatoes. We had a lot of fun and Garrett and Brylie played really well together!

Farewell Ol' Blue!!

Last weekend we were headed up to Island Park for the weekend to celebrate John being done with harvest. We were about 20 min from our destination when John's pickup started blowing smoke from the engine! Something to do with the anti-freeze overheating?? I don't know. Oh no! Anyway, we arrive at the cabin and John decides it's time to trade her in. This isn't the first thing that's happened with the truck and certainly won't be the last, so a trade was a good idea.
Well, on Monday morning, John got a new pickup! It's a 2011 Ford F150. Silver. 4 doors. Short box. We are pretty excited about it-not about the monthly payments but nonetheless, John needed a good pickup that will last him a long time and his blue one just wasn't cutting it! We love it!

Who Says Costumes Have To Be Expensive?

I wanted Garrett to be "The Wizard Of Oz" Scarecrow for Halloween. But, as I was looking on the internet to purchase one, I kept thinking to myself, "I can totally make this, and it would probably be a lot cheaper!" All I really needed was an old pair of pants, an old shirt, and patches, right?
Off to D.I.!! I found an olive color pullover (perfect!) for $2.00! And, at Wal*Mart, I found brown sweatpants (another score!) for $3.00!
Thank goodness Linda keeps all of her left over fabric scraps! I rummaged through her collection and cut out patches-and I didn't even have to sew! I hot-glued them on! I also managed to glue on raffia ($3.00) to make the "straw" effect!
With LOTS of glue gun blisters later....A $8 costume vs. a $26 costume was well worth it!

TA-DUM!! :)

I think Garrett will make one cute scarecrow! :) I can't wait for Halloween to get the full-effect!

Garrett At 19 Months

Tuesday, Garrett had his 18 month checkup-even though he's really 19 months. Here are some of his stats:
  • Weight: 24lbs.- 44%
  • Height: 31 inches- 14%
  • Had 4 shots! :( And they left quite the bruises and knots on his legs! They look so sore!
  • He seems to be repeating some words that John or I (or anyone) has taught him
  • Total of 10 teeth-2 more have come through since last month
  • Dances "The Pony" step
  • Helps feed himself
  • For a boy, he really doesn't like to get his hands dirty
  • Is a big helper

We love ya big guy!
