Our Lil Stinker

The votes are in and have been tallied! This year for Halloween Garrett is a cute little skunk! Tonight after John got home from work, I dressed Garrett in his costume and we headed to the pumpkin patch for some pictures. They're not professional by any means but I think they turned out cute! We had fun but didn't get one smile out of Garrett! Enjoy!

This picture cracks me up! I feel like he's saying "Mom, please? Really?"

I don't know if you can read this but on the bum of his costume it says "Lil Stinker"

I'm so glad that we went! I've been looking at my friends' blogs and all of their Fall pictures and have been so jealous that I didn't have anything Fall to post! It was a fun night and we (Garrett and I) very much needed to get out of the house!! :)

One Last Ride

For the past couple of months, John has had his pickup on CraigsList, KSL Listings, Facebook and more websites trying to sell it. Friday night he got a call from his brother-in-law Adam saying that he has a friend that has a friend that wants John's pickup!! We were pretty excited since it'll save us another payment of $430.77 a month! So, John got it all cleaned up and on Sunday drove it down for the last time to Salt Lake and said good-bye to his truck.

I don't think he'll ever admit it but John is a little sad that he doesn't have his ride anymore. And to be honest, I'll miss that monster of a beast, too! (Can you believe that John would sometimes make me try and scale up the step to get in it in a Sunday dress and heels?!?!)

We've had some good times in the pickup and I have to boast that John spruced it up pretty nice and kept it looking good. Some nights when John would come home from work I would hold Garrett on my lap on our front steps and as soon as John would pull in the driveway, Garrett would get all excited!
Now that it's gone we are down to 1 vehicle. My car. Guess who will be stranded at home for awhile with nowhere to go until John finds another pickup? He actually has an old 64 pickup (if you could call it that) that he could drive but the bottom of it has holes and the wipers don't work so....ya...we'll figure something out.

Well, Wouldn't You Know It...

Along with a sick baby and all of the stress and sleeplessness that comes with taking care of him, I myself have a bad case of StrepThroat! GA!! How did I find out? Well, instead of going to the pumpkin patch to take family pictures yesterday, I loaded up Garrett and took him to the doctor here in Shelley and waited there for about 2 hours!! The doctor diagnosed me with Strep and Garrett definatley has some sort of virus. However, he doesn't have an ear infection, which I am SOOOOO grateful for!

This morning we are both kind of feeling better. But, whenever Garrett cries or whines you can hear how raspy and raw his voice is! It's so sad! His cheeks are still a little rosey, but not as bad as they were a couple of days ago.

I think we're on the tail-end of this nasty bug....

It All Started Sunday Night....

For the past 3 days, Garrett has been sick! Sunday night he had been asleep for about two hours when he woke up just screaming! I hate it when he does this cause he's still asleep but he just screams!! I tried feeding him with no luck, I tried bouncing him around with no luck, and tried rocking him back to sleep with no luck. Finally, about an hour later, he drifted back off to sleep....
Monday morning I noticed that his right eye is extremely goopy and kind of reddish. I thought "Great, just what he needs, a case of pink eye!" I took him to his doctor later that afternoon, and sure enough he has pink eye! Poor little guy! No wonder he fussed the night before-his eye was probably hurting him....After his appointment, I went and got him some eye drops (oh ya, that's a fun task trying to get it in his eye!) I have to give him 1 drop 4 times a day.

After John got home from work, I needed VERY badly to get out of the house so I went to Wal-Mart and got some groceries. I was gone for about an hour and I guess Garrett just screamed the whole entire time I was gone! He had just finished a bottle and John was burping him when all of a sudden John hears Garrett rumble and...BLEH!! He had thrown up everywhere! On John, on the couch, on himself....you name it, throw up was on it!

After we had gotten it cleaned up, Garrett starts in on his "fussy-time". Only this time he screamed for about 2 hours before falling asleep...Around 11pm he starts his screaming again and I try everything again to get him back to sleep....NOTHING WORKED!!! He fell asleep around 3am and stayed asleep til about 5am! John gave him a blessing and still nothing! Except his pink eye did go away after about a day. Which I'm grateful for because his doctor said that it would last up to 3-4 days.

Tuesday I had slipped into the 7th circle of hell!! If pink eye wasn't bad enough, he has gotten a bad case of a runny/stuffy nose, teething, sneezing and a cough! And I'm guessing an ear infection too, due to the fact that he keeps tugging at his ears! After John got home from scouts (which I thought would never happen), I went to Broulims and cleared out their baby section! I got teething tablets, oraljel, baby motrin medicine and some vapor rub.

Last night was the same scenerio for bedtime. He fell asleep around 9:30pm. I really thought that he would sleep through the night since we overdosed him with medicine (not really!) Well, I thought wrong! He was up again around 1am! But, he fell back asleep about 20 min later and slept until 5:30am. After John changed him, he fell back asleep until about 8:15am. I'm really crossing my fingers hard that today he will be better!
Needless to say that it's been a long couple of days....and nights!

Garrett At 7 Months

On the 14th Garrett turned 7 months! Where has the time gone? I really can't even believe how fast he is growing and how big he is getting! My mom asked me the other day "What has gone by faster? Being pregnant for 7 months, or raising a baby for 7 months?" I really think raising a baby has gone by way faster!
Some things Garrett is doing at 7 months:
  • Rolls over all the time (which makes is hard to change diapers and clothes!)
  • Can sit up by himself for about 30 sec. before he falls over
  • Blows bubbles, spits and jabbers on and on....
  • Weighs about 20lbs.
  • Starting to reach for people
  • Teething (no teeth yet, but I think any day one could be coming through)
  • Chews on everything! Once anything is in his hands it automatically goes to his mouth
  • Sucks on his toes and fingers
  • Laughs and smiles all the time!! :) He's such a happy little boy!
  • Sleeps through the night (kind of) Goes to bed around 9:30pm and won't get up til about 7am! He's still in our bed though!! That habit better break soon...
  • Rubs is eyes when he's tired (the cutest thing I have ever seen!)
  • Loves fans and lights and anything that is bright
  • Loves, loves, loves to be outside! (Just like his daddy!)
  • Has been eating solids for about a month. He loves peas but has also tired sweet potatoes, rice cereal, and carrots.
Anyway, I could go on and on with the new things that he is discovering! He has been such a blessing in our lives and I couldn't imagine life without him. It is hard sometimes but it's so worth it! Every stage has been fun to go through. Before I know it, he'll be one!

Jibber Jabber

Sunday afternoon Garrett was on a roll! We were at Tyree and Adam's for a luncheon for their little baby Pyper when Garrett all of a sudden started telling (more like yelling) a story for the crowd around him! It was SO funny! He has been jabbering here and there for a little while now, but it was nothing compared to this:

You can't really hear him because of everyone laughing and I wish you could see his legs! They were so stiff! I guess you just had to be there but we all got a good laugh at him! Funny boy!

As mentioned earlier, Adam and Tyree blessed their little girl, Pyper Faye on Sunday. She looked so cute in her blessing dress! When she was just a couple of days old, we went over to visit and took some pictures of her and Garrett together. Look at that monster! Granted he does have about 5 months on Pyper, but still....

Welcome to the family little Pyper!

C.O.W. Day

About a week ago, John had the opportunity to do "Careers On Wheels" day at Bonneville High School for the kids.

He had a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed it, too!

I'm so thankful that he has a job that he somewhat likes so I can stay home and raise Garrett. Even though we sometimes live paycheck to paycheck (if that) we always seem to have just enough for the essentials. Thanks John for all your hard work you do! :)

A Day On The Farm

Thursday my mom, Ashley and her girls, Garrett and I drove out to Darlington to visit my grandpa. He seemed so excited to have us all there. Today marks one month since my grandmother's passing. He took us out to his garden where we all came back with beets, 3 kinds of potatoes, and cucumbers. My grandma was famous for her delicious homemade bread so my mom made my grandpa some while we were there! It was fun to be out there and visit with him for a couple of hours.

Then, on Friday John took the day off so we went over to Tausha's house and took Garrett on his first four-wheeler ride, and also took him to see the horses. Garrett was clueless as to what was going on but it was fun for us! :)

John absolutely loves horses and has dreamed of owning his own ranch and raising horses...maybe someday.

Take notice of how far away I am from them! For some reason, they got spooked or something and just came charging after us! I was out of that coral so fast....and that was the end of our horse visit! :)

What a fun life living on a farm!
