My 6 week checkup

It's been six weeks since my C-section. Recovery hasn't been that bad at all. Of course, the first couple of weeks I was sore but after that I felt and still feel great! Dr. Hall checked me over and gave me the go ahead to workout, lift more than 10lbs. (which I've already been doing...oops), and basically do things that I've done pre-pregnancy-just to take it easier than normal. He said that my incision will be skin color within 6-12 more months. Right now it's red. He also mentioned that the numbness that I'm still feeling will come back within 3-6 more months. So, slowly I'm getting my body back to normal...the insides anyway! The outside needs help! I am bound and determined to tighten up my stretched out mid-section! :)
LET THE WORKOUT BEGIN.....

Monthly Girls Night

I look forward to this every month. It was nice to catch up with my girlfriends and just laugh! We had it at my house this month because they haven't seen our new house yet and plus I wanted to show Garrett off! :) We don't really do anything special-just tell stories and laugh for about 3 hours. I love it! We decided that next month we'll actually take a weekend away from babies and husbands and go down to Utah, stay in a hotel, and go shopping! I'M SO EXCITED TO GO!! That'll be a nice birthday treat for me since we'll be going the day after my birthday! :) Can't wait girls! Thanks for coming over!
Garrett Update:
He seems to be growing and changing every minute of every day. To me, he's such a good baby. I do have my frustrating times with him but not very often. Sunday was such a nice day outside so against doctors orders to keep him inside for 6-8 weeks, we broke out the stoller for the first time and walked to my parents house for a yummy Sunday dinner. I figured he's over a month old so it should be ok to take him out. I did cover and bundle him up in a blanket to be on the safe side....Paranoia?? Maybe? I just don't want him to get sick! EVER! ;)
Here is Garrett in his swing where he'll sometimes fall asleep. I hate that stupid green binky! It covers his entire face!!
He is kind of sleeping better at night. It seems like the later we keep him up, the longer he'll sleep through the wee hours of the morning. Like last night-all 3 of us went and laid down in the bed around 11:00 pm and half hour later, all 3 of us fell asleep...the next thing I know I hear John's alarm going off at 6:30! John will get ready and leave for work while I feed and change Garrett then Garrett and I will sleep for another 2 hours and endure another day.

We are getting his pictures taken May 24th. He'll be over 2 months old. I can't wait to see how they'll turn out.

Long, Long Weekend

It was a long weekend. John left for Jackson on Thursday morning and didn't get home until Saturday night around 9:00 p.m. Which meant I was a single parent for 3 days...I'm SO glad that I'm not doing this whole "mom" thing and raising Garrett all by myself! I wouldn't say that it was hard but it sure was lonely and it is nice to have John's help when he is here. I usually get up with Garrett during the week because John works but once Friday night rolls around, Garrett is all his for the rest of the weekend while I catch up on some much needed sleep. I missed that over the weekend but I survived!
Thursday and Friday were kind of mundane...they consisted of naps, diaper changes, feedings, a bit too much tv watching, and that's about it. Friday night my parents and my brother stopped in to see us (ok, let's be honest-they stopped in to see Garrett ;) )
Saturday was better and it went by a lot faster. My mom, Ashley and her 2 girls, and I went to a Brittany Rae Boutique open house. It had jewelry, clothes and shoes. It was fun-too bad I didn't get anything. My mom, however, ended up getting 2 shirts, some jewelry and a pair of hot pink high heels for $30! Talk about a steal!! I spent the afternoon at my parents until I had to go to Rigby for a friends wedding reception. I normally don't like going to these but I used to work with this girl and she didn't even know that I had a baby so I took Garrett with me to show him off to her. Her reception was decorated in a very old traditional way. It was very cool and very original.
Saturday night John finally got home around 9:00 p.m. He had fun in Jackson but he sure did miss his little boy! We missed him, too! It's nice to have him home.
Garrett hit his one month mark on April 14th. Seriously, where did the time go!? At one month Garrett has started cooing and smiling! I love it!! It melts my heart to hear him "talk" back to me. He's started to recognize mine and John's voices and he loves staring up at our ceiling fan when it's on. It's sad to me that he's not really a newborn anymore! That phase didn't last very long...His next wellness checkup isn't until May and I'm anxious to hear his stats. Hopefully, I'm doing the right things and that he's developing normally and healthy. John and I both decided that at 2 months we'll start getting him on a bedtime routine-no more sleeping with mom and dad...we'll see how that goes! :) Any suggestions? I'll take 'em!

Garrett's Special Day

Sunday Morning:
April 11, 2010 we blessed Garrett. It was such a special day. John gave him a really nice blessing. After sacrament meeting, we had a luncheon to celebrate! (It wouldn't be an LDS function without food involved, would it??)

I found this Tuxedo blessing outfit at the "Baby Boutique" in Idaho Falls. I thought he looked so adorable in his little white outfit.

The Luncheon:

Our very first family picutre!

Lots of food, family, and passing Garrett around! Granny, of course, is always first! :)

Thanks everyone who helped pitch in for food and a big thanks to all of those who came for Garrett's blessing! We love you! This will be a day John and I will never forget! :)

A Special Day for a Special Mom

On Tuesday April 7th, we celebrated my mom's 29th...I mean 47th birthday! (Mom-I hope it's ok that I shared your real age!) We had a couple of dutch apple pies, chocolate cake and some ice cream.
The Birthday Girl

The yummy cake! Personally, I liked the Dutch Apple Pie better!

My dad and brothers gave her this cute orange purse,

John, Garrett and I gave her a couple of necklaces,

and Nick, Ashley, Hallie, and Cooper gave her a cute gray shirt!

We hope you had a wonderful birthday! Thanks for all you do for us! We love you! And remember mom, 47 is still young! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Happy Easter!

HAPPY EASTER!!

This year we spent the Easter weekend at John's parents house in Rigby. We also watched General Conference, shot guns, and watched New Moon. I didn't do any candy or easter egg baskets this year (we didn't even color Easter eggs)-honestly, I kind of spaced that it was even the Easter weekend! Lately, my days have been sort of jammed-packed into one!!!

I enjoyed Conference this year. Like always, I loved listening to our Prophet and his stories. It seemed to me that this year the topic of Conference was either about Family and helping those in our own families who are struggling or the General Authorities warning us about the dangers of Pornography.

After the second session of Conference, we had a nice Easter dinner and then we shot BB Guns off the back of Bruce and Linda's porch. I shot a couple of times and then came in because it was freezing and plus I had Garrett as my excuse! :) Shooting guns really isn't my thing.....

We had a fun Easter! Hope you all did too! :)

Another GoodBye

Last Saturday, John and I went to Rexburg to trade in John's pickup. He has been having problems with the injectors going out every time he starts it up. He's tried to fix them severeal times but this last time was the last straw for John. He's wanted to trade it in for awhile but has found nothing that he has really liked or hasn't liked what the dealers were offering for his pickup.
So, we dropped off Garrett at my mom's (away from him for the first time) and drove up to Rexburg to look at some half tons and possibly a Powerstroke (which is what John's old pickup is). We saw and test drove a few pickups that were ok but I could tell that John wasn't really into any of them....until he saw a 2003 Blue Souped-Up Powerstroke with all the bells and whistles on it. It has a lift and big monster tires on it-well, they are monsterous to me! I know that any other man would appreciate this vehicle. We actually got a pretty good deal and it brought his pickup payment lower!
I don't have any pictures of his new pickup yet because John hasn't gotten it fully detailed. So I'll just post pictures of his old pick up and the memories that John (and I) had with it....

We had some good times with his old pickup. It's kinda stupid how attached you get to a vehicle but I'm gonna miss driving this beast of a pickup! :) And I know that John will miss it too!
