1st Haircut!

It's true! I finally broke down and decided it was time for Garrett to get his 1st haircut! I've been putting it off for 2 reasons: #1: I was beyond any doubt that he wouldn't hold still long enough to get it done. To my surprise, he did a lot better than what I thought he would! I had to hold him, but the squirming and moving around was minimal! #2: I knew that once the hair was cut, I'd regret it because all signs of "Baby Garrett" were no more....and I was right!

*Before*

He was starting to get a little bit of a tail in the back-another reason for the decision!

My sister showing Garrett the "buzz"-er

At this point, I was sure he would freak out! And because I had to hold him, I didn't get pictures of how good he did during the haircut!

*After*

What happened?!?! In a matter of 5 minutes, his baby-ness was gone! His haircut makes him look so grown up! I was so sad- I kept a little baggy of some of his hair! I will admit that he looks very handsome! :)

Spud Day 2011

Spud Day! John missed it, so it was just me and Garrett! It was a little different view for us at the parade-we're usually the ones that are in it, not watching it from the sidelines! :)

Garrett watching the parade

High School Mascot-The story is that the Coach designed "Boomer", sent it in to "Disney"-as in Hollywood Disney-and they created it! Isn't that cool? I thought so!

I miss that John doesn't do his Firefighter thing anymore

And, the tractors! My nephews Jade, Jason, and Jake

*Afterward, we went to the park and walked around. Call me crazy, but that is probably my favorite part of the whole day! I usually end up seeing the majority of my friends from high school and I love seeing that they have little families of their own!*

In spite of the wind, Garrett and I had a really fun day!

Robert's 24th Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Robert!

We love you! You are such a great brother and fun uncle! Hope you had a wonderful day!

Garrett at 18 Months

A year and a half! Can it be? Here are some of Garrett's stats at 18 months:
  • Has learned to say "airplane", "swing", "bug", and "mow" (for a cat), "Cooper" "yogurt"-of course, the words aren't as clear as glass but he will point to the object and say the word for it so we're pretty sure he knows what they are
  • Weighs in at 23 lbs. More or less...He won't have his check up for another month
  • As mentioned in earlier months, he loves to read! His favorite books this month are "What's Bigger Than Me?", "Hippos Go Berserk!" and "Baby Einstein's World Of Colors"
  • Is doing great with only having his bottle at nap and bedtime
  • 2 teeth have popped through on the bottom! His lower right Molar and lower incisor, making a total of 8 teeth
  • Likes to play on the stairs and out on the farm
  • Likes to dance
  • His favorite breakfast foods are waffles, yogurt, and oatmeal
  • Loves raspberries, strawberries, and watermelon
  • Will be going to Nursery!!!!!!

Before The Grain's Cut...

Let's take family pictures! :) These are few of the many that I think turned out really cute! We took them out in the grain fields where John works! The only thing that I don't like about them, is in every picture Garrett has his finger in his mouth!
Note to self: Don't take pictures while kids are teething!

Love this picture!

This one is one of my favorite's, too.

Pointing to a tractor off in the distance!
Thanks Ashley!

Getting Rid Of The Two "B's"

I have finally talked myself into weening Garrett off of his binky and his bottle. He's almost 18 months and I think it's time for the transition. However, I do feel that if I take away both of them at the same time, it'll be hard...on both of us! Garrett will be saying "bye-bye" to his bottle today since he has grown quite attached to his binky- (Hmm...that one might be a little harder to get rid of than the bottle).
He has done pretty good but today at nap time, the bottle was a must! He wouldn't even take his sippy-cup with milk. At that point I figured well maybe I'll just give him his bottle at nap and bed time so he only gets it twice during the day and then after a few weeks (or months), I'll only give it to him at bed time. I'll do the same routine with his binky, too. Is that a good idea?? I'm seriously asking for advice to those who have done this process before. Hopefully, by the time he is 2, he'll be off of both! :)
