I'm A Big Boy Now!!

At the start of the new year, I started potty training Garrett. I have put it off for so long! My excuse? I just didn't want to do it-that's all it was, laziness. I went into town to get yet another package of diapers, and finally decided that this was it! No more spending money on diapers for an almost 3 year old! So, I let Garrett pick out his own big boy potty and underwear. He picked out a cool football seat and Thomas/Cars underwear! :)
Once we got home, we put a pair of underwear on (his little bum looks so cute in them!) and became M.I.A. for the next 2 weeks. Yes, that's how long it took before I finally got brave enough to take him out! He did pretty good that first day but then day 2 and day 3 were awful! He kept pooping in his underwear!! Washing out smeared poop is the most disgusting job for a mom, I think! He did that for about a good week, then just all of a sudden stopped. Aaah, the light finally started to click with him! :)
It's been a few months and now I think it's safe to say that he is pretty much potty trained! YES!! He still wears a pull-up at night, but he's waking up dry-we're making progress!! :)

Good job, Garrett! You're such a big boy!

It All Began In October....

John and I made the biggest withdrawal that our bank account has ever seen and decided to build a house! We have been living in Rigby for almost 2 years now and have come to really enjoy the area so that's where we are builing! We found a 1 acre lot and staked our claim in the Briarwood Subdivision.
We found a house plan through Fall Creek Homes, made some of our own adjustments on the plans and in October, they started breaking ground! :) It's a 2 car garage, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms upstairs. There is a basement that can have a family room and 2-3 more rooms but we won't be finishing the basement for a couple of years, at least.
It's been a long, long process but it's also been really fun picking out paint colors, tile, granite, siding colors, cabinets, ect. Not that everything has worked out to our liking-we've had some issues on a few things-but the house is finally starting to come together and we are crossing our fingers, hoping that we are in our brand new home the beginning of April!
Here are a few pictures from October to March....

Day One: OH! I was so excited to see this! They started digging our floor plan!

A few weeks later, the cement was poured for the foundation.

And then the framing started to begin about a month later! This was also an exciting day!

Hole's finished!

The framing went up really fast! It seemed like the builders were coming by everyday!

Prepping for the siding

Framing Stage: This is the Front Room

Garage
1 of 2 bathrooms upstairs
Sheetrock! Finally!! I didn't think it would ever reach this stage!
Putting on the siding!
Sheetrock Stage: The Kitchen
A few weeks later, the sheetrock was done, and the painting began along with the installation of the things to get excited over-like the cabinets and tile!!!

AHH! MY CABINETS!!! I LOVE THEM!!!!
Siding almost complete! The part that is left bare is for rock
Bathroom cabinets!
As of March 14th, this is the stage we are at! They are finally finishing up with the rock!
After 5 long months, I am SO ready to be in my house! They are digging our well and septic tank now and just doing little odd jobs that seem to be taking them forever to finish!! The granite countertops have been put in, the back splash in the kitchen is done, carpet has been laid, the lights and water work so I'm thinking...the necessities are finished, can I move in now? I'm starting to grow impatient twiddling my thumbs day after day, waiting for when we can call the house ours-officially!!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Garrett!!

Holy cow! He can't be 3 already! We celebrated his birthday on Saturday with some cousins and grandparents. He got a lot of great gifts! Thanks everyone for the presents and coming to celebrate Garrett's birthday!

The birthday boy enjoying his 1 of 3 cupcakes!

Opening some presents!

He got some awesome basketball shoes from my parents, Rob & Katherine and Alex!

Really, how can you not just smile at this pose!

These are the cupcakes that I made!

On Friday, John and I took him to Toys R Us so he could pick out a toy with his "money" that he got in the mail. He has like a radar for finding John Deere anything and he ended picking out an John Deere Excavator. He was pretty proud! Then, later we had some cake and ice cream and opened a few presents!

Grandma and Grandpa Spaulding got him this really cool firetruck!

Singing Happy Birthday!

John and I got him a new bike! He loves to ride it!
