McAffee Family Reunion 2011: Loristica Camp

Family Reunion Time! And that means lots of camping! This year for the McAffee reunion, we all went up to Loristica for the weekend. It was a ton of fun! There was lots to do while we were there. Garrett LOVED it because he was outside all day long!

Garrett loved going for rides (real or fake) on the four-wheelers...

John took Garrett on a ride and he fell asleep! SO CUTE!!! :)

We went canoeing and swimming in the little lake that was up there

John's birthday was on the 23rd so we celebrated it with everyone! Happy Birthday, John!

Um...who was on "Garrett Duty"? Oh, right! Me! Oops!
A little dirt never hurt anyone, right? Yum!

He played in the dirt and chased the dogs the whole weekend! He was lovin' life!

Whoa! Look at these dirty little piggies! :)

After we got home, I gave Garrett a bath and the water was as brown as ever because of the caked-on dirt!
Besides the mosquitoes and the sunburns, it was such a fun weekend! We love getting together with family and just hate it when we have to leave! We love you all! Can't wait for next year!

Going Once! Going Twice! SOLD!

We have officially sold our house! Surprised? Us, too! It happened unusually fast. Faster than I wanted, anyway. Here's the story: John's sister got married about a month ago and her husband is stationed in Kansas for the military for 1-4 years. So, while their family is living in Kansas, we will be house sitting for them! Probably not for the entire 4 years, but we'll see what happens.
Anyway, we (and when I say "we", I mean "me") were being slow-pokes about getting a "For Rent" sign in our yard, then one night, John posted it on Craigslist. The next day, John got an email from a family who will be moving up here before the school year so their boy can play sports. That night we showed the house to them and before they left the Dad wanted to know if we would sell it to them instead of rent!
I'm going back and forth with my feelings on it. It will be a great opportunity for us to save up some money but I love where we are, our ward, the friends we've made in our ward, our neighbors and the fact that I have a babysitter right around the corner-mom and dad, that's you! :) So...ya! We'll be out of our house Aug. 1st, if not sooner! Yikes! Only 2 weeks! I better get packing!.....

Well....Here's to the new adventures that await us in Rigby!

Garrett At 16 Months

Holy Cow! Where does the time go? I swear it was only yesterday that I posted "Garrett at 15 months!" And now, here I am updating him one month later! Here are some of his stats for this month:
  • Weighs around 22 lbs.
  • 28 inches in height (I'm just guessing)
  • Wears 12-18 month clothes
  • Likes to jump on the tramp and the couch and gets some pretty good air
  • Says please, his prayers, baby, binky, Grandpa, and shh-baby sleeping (actually it's more like "sssss, bebe see...) ;)
  • Can identify his nose, toes, and belly button
  • His favorite blanket is his green and blue John Deere with tractors on it
  • Brushes his teeth
  • Starting to drink Apple juice
  • Has 3-4 bottles a day and trying to ween him off his binky (good luck mom and dad!)
  • Takes 1 nap a day
  • Likes to throw balls...and far, I might add. He has quite the arm on him! :)
  • Shakes his finger for "no, no"
  • Grunts when he sees a tractor or some sort of big truck

A "Zoo"per Day!

Saturday we took Garrett to the Zoo! It was his first time going and I thought that he would go NUTS for the animals like he usually does when he sees a cow, a horse, or a dog, but he didn't even make a peep the whole time we were there! Darn! Oh well, it was fun anyway.

First stop the Alligator Swamp

There is a picture of me and my sister Ashley at this same lion drinking fountain when we were little. It was fun to re-create the memory

These turtles are HUGE!

The Otters are my favorite! We were waiting for them to jump in the water and do something but they just laid on the logs and relaxed

This is what most of the animals were doing the whole time we were there! Sleeping!

The zoo workers told us that this baby zebra was born 5 days ago!

We took Garrett to the Petting Zoo

The Penguins were our last stop! It was such a fun family activity!

4th of July 2011

4th of July! One of my favorite holidays! Every year my parents do a little BBQ at their house along with the slip n' slide! You can't beat grilled hamburgers and other yummy food! The weather was incredibly hot so, of course, swimming was in order...for some of us anyway. While some swam, others napped and ate dessert.

I bought this pool at Target for $5! I thought that it was so cute and this is basically what he did in it all afternoon!

I guess some of us will always be a kid! :)

Splash!

First up, John! Who else, really?

Garrett trying it out....didn't like it!

But, he did like the pool the next door neighbors set up!

After the BBQ, we went to the greenbelt and watched the fireworks. I was a little worried at how Garrett would react to them. I didn't know if he would be scared or if I would be chasing him around the whole time! Surprisingly, he loved them and sat on my lap and just stared at the fireworks, which meant that I got to enjoy them, too!

Happy 4th Of July!
