I know it's not the new year yet but I was kinda getting tired of looking at my christmas background so I decided to change it before all the good ones got taken!

*Christmas Morning*

SANTA CAME!! SANTA CAME!! Christmas finally came! After John and I were done playing in the snow, we went over to my parents house for a Christmas Eve dinner-we had prime rib, salads, corn, and mom's famous hot wassail. The food was really yummy-Thanks Mom! After dinner, all the kids played games while mom and dad finished wrapping Christmas presents! About 10:30 p.m. we all settled down on the floor to try and get some sleep. Around 4:45 a.m. Robert woke us all up and the unwrapping began.....
My new red coat that I love!

I got John a GPS Satellite Navigator for his pick-up

I wish I could post all of the pictures I took but that would take a while and I'm not very patient when it comes to downloading! I loved every part of today! Everyone had a great Christmas! Thanks everyone for a fun time over at mom and dad's!

*Christmas Eve*

Christmas Eve John and I were bored just sitting at our house so we got all dressed up to go outside to play in the snow! We made snow angles, had ourself a snowball fight that got way out hand and then we were going to build a snowman, but since the snow was too powdery-we built a snow cave instead! We built it right by our ditch. It's always fun to be a kid again!
We dug out the cave so both of us could fit!

*MERRY CHRISTMAS!!*

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! This year we will be spending Christmas Eve over at my parents' house! This is mine and John's first Christmas and I am so excited! Our family tradition is we all sleep in the tv room either on the couches, on the floor, or one of us in the La-Z-Boy chair! My little brothers wake all of us up around 3:30 am to open presents! Very early! Then, we take turns opening our presents one by one. Even though this takes a long time to do, I love doing it because I love watching the excitement on everyone's faces! On Christmas Eve, my mom usually makes a really fancy dinner-prime rib, a few salads, goodies, and her hot wassail! So yummy! Then, after dinner we stay up and play games for a few hours and snack on sugar cookies, homemade caramels and chocolates! Oh ya-and some of us watch "The Christmas Story"-it just wouldn't be Christmas without watching that show- or any old fashioned Christmas Carols that might happen to be on. Other than the fact that the roads are slick, it's below zero outside, and my tires on my car have no traction, I love this holiday season! Everyone seems to be a good mood. Let's not forget what Christmas is really about, though. In all the hustle and bustle, I sometimes find myself forgetting the true meaning of Christmas.
Merry Christmas!

Torn ACL/THIS REALLY BITES!!!

Well, as most of you already know-Tuesday night Alex had a very rough bball game in Rigby. To make a long story short...He ended up with a knee injury and sat out the rest of the game that night. The next day, he had an MRI to check and see if anything else went wrong. He called me Wednesday night with the bad news that he had torn is ACL and he's out for the rest of the basketball season! And it had barely started! "Pretty bummed" is definately putting it lightly. He was very upset about the news and I don't blame him. He LOVES basketball! Our hearts ache for him and his feelings. He will be having surgery in Jan and then comes the long road of physical therapy and recovery. I know that he is a strong kid and is ready for any obstacles that will come his way. Some sisterly/brother in law advice-Alex, we're very sorry for your accident and for this minor set-back in your athletics. We know how you must be feeling and that you're wishing you could be out on the court playing with your team. We both want to let you know how proud of you we are about your attitude about this. You seem to be handling this pretty well...mentally, at least. Remember, just because you're not playing doesn't mean you're not part of the team-cheer along with them and keep your hopes and spirits high. We think you are great on or off the court! We all support you more than 100 percent and are willing to help you with therapy as much as we can. You're in our prayers and we love you very much!
We hope that surgery will go well and that Alex will recover soon! It is too bad that this had to happen to Alex but I know that Heavenly Father knows that Alex is strong enough to get through this trial in his life.

One Year Ago...

....is the anniversary of mine and John's first date. Little did I know that this night would be the night that would changed my life forever. I can remember the night like it happened yesterday. He picked me up around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday Decemeber 15th 2007. We were doubling with him and his cousin, Trevor who was set up with one of my roommates. We drove up past Rexburg to the ice caves for a little game of "hide-and-seek." We had gone to Wal-Mart prior to the caves and gotten some glow in the dark sticks. Once we got up to the caves, we splattered ourselves with the sticks and also sprayed some on the rocks and started playing our game! It was one of the funnest dates I had ever been on....obviously! John was such a gentlemen, too. He would help me down the rocks that led into the caves, he would tell me the best places to hide and then he helped me through the snow back to his pickup. After the caves, we drove to Trevor's apartment for some pizza and a movie. I didn't want to the night to end but the time came too soon for him to take me home. We did the whole "I had fun..."/hug bit and then he drove off leaving me little hope if I would ever see him again! Well, Sunday night I actaually got a text from him!! We made plans for another date and the rest is history! I can't believe I have known John for a year! It's been the best year of my life! I love you John! Happy One Year!

Trevor and Adria's Wedding

Saturday, John's cousin Trevor Bates (most of you will probably remember him from high school) got married in the Idaho Falls Temple to a very cute and fun girl, Adria Adams! They started dating around the same time John and I did and since John and Trevor are the best of buds and are used to doing everything together...I've gotten to know Adria pretty well. (and Trevor, too.)
It's just way too bad that the terrible snow storm had to ruin their day..but that was the only thing that did. They got married at 9:30 a.m. and it brought back so many memories of mine and John's special day! If I had the choice I would definately do it all over again. The ceremony was beautiful. They didn't have a reception but they did have a luncheon at the Hilton Hotel in Idaho Falls. After the luncheon, Trevor and Adria headed up to Island Park to Adria's cabin where they would spend thier time...honeymooning! Congradulations Trevor and Adria! Best of wishes and we love you both!

Work Christmas Party

On December 4, my office had our work Christmas party! The Dr.s have been keeping it a secret for about a month from all of us. This year, we all met at Wal-Mart then Dr. Hanson and Dr. Nielsen drove us to Leo's Place where we played 3 games of Laser Tag! That was so much fun! But, boy! Am I sore!! Three 20-min games takes a lot out of you-since you don't really have time to stand you end up running the entire time! After Laser Tag, they drove us to the mall and gave everyone $100 to spend on ourselves. But, we only had an hour to spend the money! I got a couple of shirts at Aero. After the mall, they treated us to dinner at Ruby River. It was a lot of fun being with everyone and just laughing. Thanks to both Dr.s for an eventful night!

Decorating the Tree

Trimming the Tree!

It's finally December and everyone is in the "Holiday Spirit" I'm very excited cuz this is mine and John's first Christmas! Saturday, he and I went into town and bought our first Christmas tree at Wal-Mart. We looked at a few that were small so it would fit in our house and then John decides to jump the gun and buy a 7 footer!! Anyone see "Christmas Vacation?" "Do you think there's enough room for the Angel, Clark?" Our tree is just inches from touching the ceiling! We both got a good giggle out of that!
But, if the height of the tree wasn't enough--I let John be in charge of buying the lights...Big Mistake!! He ended up buying 800 lights!! And it only covered the bottom half of our tree so back to town for about 400 more lights! That's right-12oo lights!!!! Careful- Don't look directly at the tree and remember to put your lead vests on!! (It's very bright if you didn't catch my drift). I'd scare myself of the idea of putting lights around our house! =)
Enjoy the pics of John and I having our holiday fun!
Notice the tree touching the ceiling

John putting on 100 out of the 1200 lights

Oooh! The finished 7-footer! Isn't it B-E-A-UTIFUL?!

A bit much? Maybe? Oh well! Christmas only comes once a year, right?!

Happy Thanksgiving!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! I hope everyone had a safe and delicious day!! This year was my first year without my family-I was sad! We spent the day with the Spauldings. We went over to Bruce and Linda's house and enjoyed a fun-fulfilled day. Linda and I made the meal (mostly Linda..I just watched) while Bruce and John hung up Christmas lights on the house. There was the turkey, yams, cranberry sauce, rolls, and....pies!! After dinner, we all loaded up in John's pickup and drove out to where Bruce and Linda are building there new house and they gave us the "grand tour." It doesn't even have the walls yet but I think it'll be a cute little house. It made me a little jealous-I want a new house! Once we got home, we got the pies out and pigged out on them! Linda had made a pumpkin, lemon, and apple pie and I made a chocolate and pumpkin ice cream pie. Then, to jump start the Christmas season we watched "Christmas Vacation" I love that movie! It was a fun day and I'm glad I got to get to know my in-laws a little better! Thanks Bruce and Linda for letting us come and have Thanksgiving Dinner with you! It was fun!!
This is me with the finished pumpkin ice cream pie!

And this is me trying to figure out how to make
the pumpkin ice cream pie!

Twilight

"Twilight" Cast
On Saturday, John took me to see "Twilight." I really have wanted to see it so I'm glad he took me. I thought that it was really good-better than the book in my opinion. Not to mention that Edward Cullins is GORGEOUS!!! I wanted to be playing Bella in the movie! John really liked the movie too. Which surprised me cuz I didn't think he would. After the movie, we went and ate at Bajio. John had never been there before and I have been telling him how amazing this food is and later we both ended up sick! Other than that, we had a good time together as always! I can't wait until the other "Twilight" movies come out!

Babysitting

Sorry for the non-picutre posts lately but I've had my hands full for the last week and a half. Once again, John and I got chosen to babysit family. This time around it was Scott and Tausha's 5 (yes, I said 5) kids! Honestly, it wasn't all that bad. The two oldest are in high school and the youngest one went to another babysitters house while John and I were at work and the two in between had grade school. So, basically John and I only had them from about 6:00 p.m. on....I was really nervous/stressed out about watching them for a week but it all turned out good. They are really well behaved kids and we hardly had any problems with them at all. And I got to know them just a little bit better also. By Wednesday, I think the kids (plus John and I) were ready for Mom and Dad to be home. Luckily they were coming home the next morning.
John and I don't mind babysitting at all but I think both of us agreed that we won't be doing it for a while....So don't ask!! =) jk! After that long week, we need a break! Thanks Searle kids for being such great kids to babysit! It made it a whole lot easier!! Scott and Tausha I hope you had fun in Florida!

I'm Counting My Blessings

Well, I just hate myself for putting a new background on when Thanksgiving isn't even here yet! But, I was looking at other blogs and saw thier new backgrounds for Christmas so I thought I might as well! It makes me sad-Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday and it gets overlooked! There are a million things that we should all be thankful for in our blessed lives and Thanksgiving is a time just for that. So, I decided to write down a few things that I am thankful for in my life:
1. My wonderful husband of 5 months
2. My Family
3. My Friends
4. The house we have to live in
5. The clothes I wear
6. The food I have to eat
7. Electricity
8. The car I get to drive
9. Both mine and John's jobs to help support ourselves
10. The Holiday Season (even though I HATE being cold!)
11. The happiness that is all around me
12. The Gospel in my life
13. My Church calling
14. Nature-and all that goes along with it (ie-trees, weather, sunshine, breezes...)
These are just a few...and I'm counting more! What are yours?

SaTUrDaY DaTE NigHt!

This weekend I wanted to do something with John. And since he has had his heart set on wanting and asking to go see "Madagascar 2", (yes I'm being serious) I decided that I would take him!
So, as my treat, I took him out to dinner at Applebee's, went to the movie, and then went to SubZero to get ice cream! Can I just add that SubZero is THE BEST ice cream I have ever had! It was sooo good! I want more! It's kinda like ColdStone...only about 10 times better!
Madagascar 2 is very cute and entertaining! We just laughed. Although, I did like the first one better. For anyone who has kids or just wants a good laugh-go see it!

GiRLs NiGHt OuT!

Once every month a couple of my girlfriends get together. This month we all met at Cherice Hanson's house. I really look forward when this "tradition" of ours comes around. We don't do anything really huge and extravagant-we just sit around and catch each other up on what's been happening in our busy/crazy lives. Maybe next month I'll have something a little more exciting to talk about. My life is just John, work and clean! Big wahoo! (Just kidding)
Anyways- I love it!! We just laugh and laugh!! Two of my friends have the most beautiful and adorable babies-I can't get over it. I love hearing the stories they have about their babies. And very cute pregnant Cherice will be due in Jan. I can't wait to see what her little boy (I mean "Beckam" ) will look like! :)
Thanks ladies for a fun night and thanks Cherice for letting us come over for a few hours! Looking forward to next month at Bridget's! Love all of you!

Nothing Runs Like A Deere

Today, John is no longer working on the farm. He has now started a new job at John Deere Bonneville County Impliments working in parts. He's very excited about his new job and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that he is now home when I get home! :)
John is planning on working in parts until the AMS Mapping position opens up in the company and since that is what John really wants to do...he figured he might as well get is foot in the door somehow. Hopefully, this will be the start of a good career path. Good luck at your new job, John! I love you!

Boo! We're watching you kids!

Mr. and Mrs. Spaulding-Don't Mess!

Here's John pose as a tree, I think? :)

Bad To The Bone

Oh, John means business

I was trying to impersonate "Mission Impossible"
(I don't think I succeeded that well)
Thanks everyone for coming Trick-Or-Treating to our house! This is about all of the visitors we got! After John and I were done goofing around, we had the idea to head over to my parents house in our camo to try and scare them. Robert and Alex both had dates and they were watching a scary movie...perfect!!
John and I army crawl up the window, peek into the window, and right when a jumpy moment in the movie was about to show...John bangs on the window!! HA! HA! We scared them! I felt bad for scaring the girls but it's all fun and games, right?!

A New Game...

I got this idea from Ashley. Go to your pictures, open the fourth folder, pick the fourth picture and write something about it! So, here goes...

This is John's motorcycle! What are the odds that the fourth picture would be one of John's "toys"? Anyways it actually works out kinda good because John is trying to sell his bike. He's selling it for $4500 (or less) if anyone is interested. I'm a little sad that he's selling it! I love it when he takes me riding! And I also love watching John going off jumps and just him riding around with his brothers and nephews.

Wacky Sevens-Another Tag

Wacky Sevens -Tag #2

Here's how this one works:
* Tell 7 random/weird things about yourself
* Send this tag to 7 people
* Be creative!

1. In high school, I used to go to Edwards Theater and play "Poo Dollar" Yes, we were immature but got some good laughs out of it!

2. I absolutely HATE snakes, spiders and everything else that creepy crawls! So why do I force myself to watch them on the Discovery Channel?

3. When I was younger, I always wanted to wear braces, so I would get either a paper-clip and undo it and form it to my teeth or I would get a colored rubber band and hook it to the back of my top molars so the bands wouldn't snap off and hit me in the face! Well, my wish came true! I wore braces for 2 1/2 years and hated them!!!

4. I used to wear those candy necklaces to school and never eat them! It was the cool thing to do!

5. I always have to be watching not one, not two, but three different channels on tv! It drives John bonkers! Who wants to sit and watch commercials when there's something better on? Whoever came up with the "Recall" button on the remote is a GENIUS!!!

6. When I was younger I wore fake glasses. For some reason I always wanted to wear them. I purposely murdered an eye exam just so I could have glasses. Now that I have them for real, I hate wearing them and wish I had perfect eye sight.

7. On my car radio all of my stations are in order from lowest to highest. I.E.-93.7, 96.1, 99.1, 1033.3, 1055.5, and 106.3. That's just good sense people!! In John's pickup his stations are all over the place! I haven't had the nerve to change them yet, but yes, it bothers me!!!

The 7 people I tag are Jen, Bridget, Jessica, Crystal, Darcie, Brittany, and Kara

Mouse in the House!!

Funny Story:

Tuesday morning I wake up and get ready for work like usual. As I stumble across the kitchen floor half awake to our bathroom, I step on what I think is a dirt clod from John's work boots. Not thinking it could possibly be anything else, I go about my morning and get ready for work.
For breakfast, I go to the refridgerator and grab a yogurt, walk about 3 feet to get a spoon, and the second I turn around.....there it is! With it's beady little eyes staring at me! EWW!!! I was on the table sooo fast! And screaming! Keep in mind that John is still sound asleep......
John flys out of bed, eyes half open, barely awake and gives a "what the?" look as I'm still standing on the table! He has the nerve to ask me, "what are you doing?!" All I could say is, "MOUSE!!!" By this time the mouse and run underneath the stove nowhere to be found.
I go to work dreading the hour that I have to come home and face the mouse alone. Like that's gonna happen! I went to my mom's until John got off work!
About 9:30 p.m. John gets home and sets some traps. An hour later, he jumps in the shower and gets ready for bed. In the meantime, I'm watching t.v. waiting for John, minding my own business, when I see out of the corner of my eye a small gray creature run across our living room floor behind our t.v.!!! I FREAKED OUT!!!
With the little courage that I had I ran into the bathroom where John is still taking his shower, jump up on the toilet and start screaming! John opens the curtain, soap in his hair and on his face and blurts out "what now!!?" I tell (actually scream) at him where I saw the mouse so John jumps out of the shower, butt naked puts on his tennis shoes??? grabs a broom (of all things!) and starts the hunt!
I run back into the living room, jump on our couch and watch my naked husband in his tennis shoes, broom in hand trying to catch this little beast! All of a sudden, the mouse scampers across the room into our bedroom!! NO!!! I FREAK OUT AGAIN!! wouldn't you?!?
An eternity passes, and the mouse finally runs back out into the living room underneath the couch that I am standing on! I leap across the furniture onto our ottoman and John (STILL NAKED!!) moves the couch to try and catch the mouse! No such luck!
Finally at around 11:00 p.m., somehow the mouse gets himself caught in a plastic bag we had on the floor by our t.v. I hand John a pair of pliers by request. John grabs the mouse in his pliers and gives the pliers a good squeeze! GROSS!!! Me, still standing on the couch, am crying/laughing at this point. Crying because I'm scared and laughing because I finally realize how ridiculous my husband looked trying to catch this thing!
After all our furniture is back where is was, John gives a sigh and says, "well, I think I'll go get dressed now." I bust up! Such an eventful night that I hope never happens again!
I hope you all got a good laugh....at John's expense! This was too funny that I had to share it!
By the way, the "dirt-clod" that I stepped on....I'm pretty sure it was the mouse!!!

Tractor Driving 101

Today John taught me how to drive a tractor!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!! I LOVED IT!!! It was kinda scary but once I got used to this big powerful monster I didn't want to give up the driver's seat!! John was an excellent teacher and, I must say, he was VERY impressed with my straight lines! :) That was probably the highlight of his entire harvest season! I loved learing about the one thing John loves about his job. Thanks hon! I had a blast!
