DoNkEy BaSkEtBaLl!

Shelley High School FFA hosted/sponsored a donkey basketball game last night! Anyone in the community could sign up to play and since John has been volunteering as a firefighter for the past 3 months, he wanted to do it along with...get ready...MY MOM!!! :) It was the funniest thing I had ever watched!

First up: Teachers vs. Students

Here are the team players "warming up" for the game
Don't over-do now...Wouldn't want to pull a muscle or anything! ;)

Let the games begin! Mom sporting #24!

Go Mom!!

During the game, my mom had got the ball and went in for a shot! Sadly, she missed :( But, the teachers still won the game!!

Next up: The Firefighters vs. FFA Students

John and his firefighting team warming up

Go John!! Get that burrow to the basket!!

The Firefighters won by about 8 points!! Good Job! :)

They had played five 10 minute games altogether. John and my mom said that they had fun, but really, they all looked like just a bunch of asses out there!! HA! HA!
Thanks for the entertainment John and Mom!

Afternoon At The Park

Sunday was such a nice day! So, we took advantage of the warm weather and went to the park!

Looks like the swings were a big hit!

And so was the slide! :)

Honestly, I think John and I had more fun than Garrett did! :) I think Spring is finally on its way!

Easter Weekend

We had a fun Easter weekend! Saturday, we went out to John's parents house in Rigby and had lots of Easter games! First, we did an Easter egg hunt for the kids!

With a little help from dad, Garrett found 5 eggs!

Then, the kids dyed Easter eggs...

...and then had a Easter egg relay race!

Afterwards, we had a BBQ! Thanks Bruce and Linda for putting this together! It was a lot of fun!

When 30 Seconds Feels Like Forever

This afternoon was scary. More than scary, I just can't find a word to describe how my afternoon went. I was changing Garrett's diaper and as I am trying to put his clean one on, he finds it hilarious to crawl away from me and get poop everywhere! So, after fighting with his kicking legs for a few minutes I gave him a little spankin (don't judge me) on his bear bottom and he started in to one of his crying fits-the one where he doesn't breath...
He crawled away from me still not breathing and I'm thinking "Ok, he should be breathing by now." "He's done this before and starts breathing on his own." I picked him up and his lips and whole entire face is just as purple as can be! His eyes had rolled back and I think he was unconscious for about 10 seconds! Panic started to overcome! I blanked. I didn't know what to do to get him to start breathing again.
Before when he's done this, I have just blown in his face which makes him gasp and then he's fine. But, that wasn't the case this afternoon. So, I started shaking him a little bit to hopefully startle him. That didn't work either. Then, I raised both his hands up over his head to get some airflow and he just stayed in that position. I honestly thought I was holding my dead baby in my arms and it was all my fault to begin with. It was the longest 30+ seconds of my life.
I don't know how but he finally came to and I just held him and calmed him down for about 5 minutes and then he fell asleep. I was so nervous that he was asleep after all of this that I was scared that he would never wake up. I kept checking on him every second.
I called my mom and sister and told them what happened and my mom came over to calm me down and she told me to wake Garrett up from his nap. I did. I hated waking him up from his nap, but I would rather take care of a fussy baby then not one at all.
He seems to be acting like his regular, happy self. I'm just hoping and praying that he won't have brain damage from the lack of oxygen. He won't, but I would have NEVER forgiven myself if he did or if he hadn't come to. Garrett, you gave me quite the scare today!
I will never yell or get mad at him ever again. Not after what happened today.

Sweet Treat

We gave Garrett his first ice cream cone! And...he LOVED it! :)

Aw! :( All gone!
John and I just sat there and watched him eat it and giggled the whole time! :)

13 Months

Garrett is 13 months today! I've said it before and I'll say it again (and keep saying it), he just keeps getting bigger and bigger and learning new things everyday! Some things that he is doing at 13 months:
  • Walking!
  • Can say "Momma", "Dadda", "Hi", and "Moo"
  • Loves his toys and books
  • Has 5 teeth
  • Takes 1 nap a day (it makes for a long day, but at least he's sleeping through the night!)
  • Eats table food and drinks from a cup
  • Already getting the "Terrible Twos" attitude!

Garrett, stop growing! I really don't feel like I can call him "baby" anymore! He just seems so big to me! We are so grateful that he's growing and developing normally! We just love him! :)

1 Year Check-up

Garrett had his one year checkup/wellness appointment today. I knew he was due for shots-I just didn't know how many, exactly. He ended up getting 4 in his legs! :( Poor little guy! He got the MMR and the one for Chicken Pox. He kind of had a delayed screaming reaction because the nurse handed him a sucker right before the shots. But, it was a split-second delay! He cried until his lips were blue and couldn't breath! I'm not exaggerating. The nurse was even like "uh, breathe Garrett." He's fine-that's just what happens when something really bad hurts him...I wasn't too shocked by it.
Before shots, Dr. Bennett examined him and gave me some advice on when to wean Garrett off of his bottle, binky, and formula. He's supposed to be off of everything between 14-15 months but, we'll see how that goes. Hopefully, I'll have him weaned off of them by the time his next checkup is, which is in October. He checked Garrett over and said that he was growing/developing normal, even though his weight percentage was down from the last time he saw him....Which I kind of figured it would be down due to the fact that he's been walking and trying to run! :)
Garrett's Stats at 1 Year:
  • Height: 29.25 inches (35%)
  • Weight: 21.5 lbs (35%)
  • Head Circum.: 17 inches
